Andrew Smith (Andy) – Technical Director:
Andy is a true petrol head in every sense of the phrase; eating, living, breathing and dreaming about Porsche. He has 20 years experience most of which has been spent either competing in or working in Motor Sport. His CV makes for impressive reading including being a Test/Race Technician in the Ginetta race series, a group C Le-Mans race car technician and a Group N technician for Subaru and Mitsubishi Rally Cars. He is putting together a rather special Porsche for himself which is a 944 that will run on throttle bodies although he is slowly piecing together a special sub 500 kilo Mini Turbo Hillclimb race car which should be ready later this year. You won’t catch Andy making you a cup of tea or coffee, he is far too busy for that! Andy is an outstanding technician with a wealth of Porsche experience and is very keen on Porsche engine and performance development. He is an excellent engine builder whether it is an early air cooled or a later 997 engine. You can be rest assured your prized possession is in very capable hands. Andy is a family man married to Sarah with 6 year old daughter Layla and son matthew (2).
The Rest of the Team
Martin (Senior) – Senior Technician
Performance Porsche were lucky to have Martin join the team in 2015. Martin left school and went immediately into the motor trade, spending his first 12 years carrying out mechanical and restoration work as well as qualifying to be an MOT tester. He then spend the next 16 years teaching welding, fabrication and body work skills. Up until joining Performance Porsche, Martin spent the last 18 months preparing performance race engines.
He is an avid 50s fan and has a impressive collection of retro memorabilia and clothing. Martin’s daily driver is a pretty cool 1962 Ford Consul Classic 315 with modern Zetec running gear. His longer term project is a 1949 American Ford F1 Hotrod.
